i sorta hate writing this sort of article because they always say “next year” (about when they're gonna complete it). If you look at my hybrid-resume, space is my first advocacy. But that does not mean i support every 'pie in the sky' space development/utilization effort. i'm familiar with the environmental impact statement of the New Mexican spaceport, i'm familiar with the local politics concerning it, and i'm familiar with the controversy associated with the actual location.

New Mexico beat out Florida in the competition to host the spaceport largely because of the state commitment to support it. But according to the article here, “No sooner had she started in her new job, the New Mexico legislature slashed the spaceport office budget by more than half.” What kind of BS is that? It really infuriates me.. How can the NM state government lure the spaceport to New Mexico then slash state support? Broken promises.. How can they justify this? Harsh economic times? What state isn't experiencing this?

New Mexican state government: this is NOT an excuse! If you want the benefits of having the first commercial spaceport in New Mexico, support it like you promised!

Here is Virgin Galactic's beautiful website about it..

Again, i don't endorse every space effort (for instance, there are a lot of scams out there that promise a space-experience but haven't developed the technology to deliver it) .. Sigh.. Here, i'm not asking anyone to buy a ticket, but i am asking the New Mexican government to make good on promises to the spaceport.
