The foreclosure climate has stifled the activities of builders but not so those connected with Habitat for Humanity in Lake County. The builders have not only completed a new sub-division but it also one that is totally foreclosure-free.

Recently celebrations were held by the organization for completing the last two houses among 23 houses built in Carter Cross sub-division in Waukegan. The project kicked off three years previously.

The group did not allow much rest for its tools. Like it peers in the entire Chicago, the Waukegan branch of the national group is gearing to take over vacant plots and rundown houses in other parts to convert the tenants into first time house owners. Simultaneously Habitat is stretching its activities by redoing foreclosed units and offering its services for fast patching up of exteriors for house owners who are badly in need of shelters though its programme named ‘A Brush with Kindness’.
