Forging a Closer Partnership with India and Japan
As we progress into the 21st century in the second decade we see humanity has progressed well and has achieved remarkable strides that have altered our perceptions in many ways in the sphere of technology and prosperity. Incredible frontiers have been surpassed that just a couple of years ago were not even imaginable.
The flip side of it is emerging very evidently from last 4-5 years that indicates we have reached a point of no redemption as well with the global economies increasingly sliding to a mess and natural resources have now reached an alarming level in depletion , proving speculations of the last century coming true too early Lets examine it in a better light
A) There is a shift from global to localization all across the planet
B) Natural resources like water is becoming scarce
c) Sustainability of communities has become a major challenge everywhere.
d) Food sovereignty is a major concern all across the planet
e) With Climate Change natural disasters and population displacement has multiplied
f) Almost all the advanced nations are struggling with an aging population and ridden with financial debts
A quarter of the mankind dwells in Indian sub-continent and ASIA is the place where the world hegemony has shifted .Its here the next centuries will witness the civilization cradling.
It is to address these issues the Tokyo based India Center Foundation is crusading in bringing about transformational leadership that will deliberate into these areas and strive to bring out a transformational change in the paradigm on the aegis of India Japan Global Partnership Summit that was initiated by the Honorable PM of India Sri A.B Vajpayee in 2000. Japan a powerful nation that re-invented itself post the WWII and became a formidable nation in economic, technology and social sphere. It is a knowledge economy having tremendous potential for India in various aspect like infrastructure development , Energy , etc while India is a huge market providing a stimulus to the Japanese economy that has slowed down. The underlining is to lead the combined effort in unifying ASIA and steer the world from the current transition to a more sustainable paradigm
The Summit in 2011 attempted to initiate a new socio-economic frame work with a macro level open architecture model that will devise and deliberate the micro level solutions. It brought together a myriad of Policy makers, Non Government organizations, Academicians, Corporate leaders, Business Apex bodies like CII, spiritual leaders to initiate a fresh thought process in the light of the Fukushima Nuclear disaster and the need to evolve a new leadership platform that will address the complex issues of environmental conservation vis a vis economic and social Change.
The extra-ordinary energy level of the Founder of ICF Sri Vibhav Kant Upadhyay An awesome leader and a visionary who has been crusading almost single handedly from last one decade and brought tremendous initiatives in association with the Govt of India and Govt of Japan.
The Summit at Tokyo on September 5-7 2011 had a gathering of over 5300 people all over the world from various countries across Europe , US , Africa and Asia participating
From South India a delegation of 72 CEOs, 19 Youth Leaders from Rotaract 3190 and about 60 Rotarians headed by Dist Governor Rtn S. Nagendra from Bangalore participated in the summit. As apart of the co-ordination Rtn Paul Mundackal President of Rotary club of Yelahanka and his team of Rotaractors played a very important role in bringing together the delegation from Dist 3190 . “ This was an extra ordinary event when Rotary 3190 and the Rotary fraternity in Japan came together and met for initiating and exploring the possibilities of acting as a catalyst for the communities of both the countries .At the end of it all I saw deep bonding emerging between Rotarians“ IJGPS executive board Rtn Kishor Jagirdar Managing Director of Infopace Management Pvt Ltd who led the delegation from South India
The gathering had over 40 sessions , 210 speakers and over 5,300 participants across the world and partner countries like USA, Nepal etc also taking the lead. Among the prominent speakers we had Sri Mukesh Ambani CMD of Reliance industries who is the Mentor to the Summit, Sri Sam Pitroda Advisor to the Prime Minister for Telecommunications and Innovations, CII leadership Hari S Bhartiya and Rajesh V Shah – MD of Mukund Industries , Spiritual leader Sadguru Jaggi Vasudevan of Isha Foundation, Sri Huda CM Haryana, Amitab Kant the CEO of DMIC ,The last 4 prime ministers of Japan and also the current PM of Japan with a multitude of Corporate Global CEOs.
Several initiatives have been taken to work on in the areas of Healthcare for about 100 villages in the outskirts of Bangalore , Youth exchange programmes and also inviting the member House of representative of Japan Mr Yuichiro Tamaka for more robust relationship with the Rotary and Rotaract 3190

Rtn Shivkumar – Vice President Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI) envisaged closer ties with Japan for the trading community especially with the CEPA Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement now come into force from August 2011
