The reviews are starting to roll in. There are only two possible conclusions so far: either the community will need some time to get used to the new changes over at Propeller, or the changes were a bad move. The initial feelings of the community can best be described when you look at the current (as of 12am PST 7-23-08) top front page story. Here is a screenshot:

Propeller New Design

Not good. Not good at all. And yes, for those who don't use or haven't been there yet, that is an actual screenshot that was actually accepted by the actual decision makers at AOL.

JD Rucker, I think your story has potential but needs some improvement. I've got a few suggestions, and if you give them a try, I'd be happy to remove this flag.

I wasnt sure what was newsworthy in this story. News should always be about posting current stuff - new things you've discovered.

Please review What Makes News News. It can really help if you follow the old "W5" news formula -- making sure you have answered the questions: Who? What? Where? When? And Why? (You might want to check out our J-Tips for more help.)

I'm sorry - I just wanted to upload the image itself.  There's no real story - people don't like the new layout.  I have never tried to just upload an image without a story, so I assumed that it would just be, well, an image.

There should be a way to just upload an image by itself without having to attach a story.  I could write a paragraph or two as many do here that explains the situation, but it would only detract from the irony of this particular circumstance.  A picture says a thousand words, right?  I'm sure nobody here needs to have the irony of the situation explained to them -- the top story on Propeller.com right now, as voted on by the users, is that the new site design is bad.

In this case, a story about the roll-out of today's redesign of the site is probably due, but I'm not in a position to explore the site or do the research at this time.  Was planning on it tomorrow, though.

If it won't hurt my "standing" I wouldn't mind if this was just completely deleted.  With no story to attach to it, the picture cannot stand by itself for the NowPublic audience without a thorough explanation of what it means and how it is ironic, humorous, and sad at the same time.  It's probably better for Flickr or something like that.

Sorry for the newbie ignorance!  Won't happen again.
