Full Body Scan: Netherlands Gets Airport Body Scanners
Passengers on flights to the USA from Netherlands will be subject to a full body scan as Schiphol International Airport ( AMS) will get airport body scanners within three weeks. The airport body scanners won't be used for passengers on flights to other world destinations, as TSA requirements are different than those of other transit authorities. Chicago's O'Hare Airport (CHI) will get them by April 2010.
Still unaddressed is how Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab was even able to get on the plane, since he was known as a suspected terrorist to the CIA.
"We will make these machines, about 15 in total, available for flights to the United States within three weeks time," Guusje ter Horst told a news conference in The Hague.

Your question of why Mutallab was able to get on the plane, since he was a suspected terrorist, can only be explained away with the power struggle that exists between Departments. The Department of Homeland Security was supposed to resolve this problem after 9/11.
Someone has to crack the whip to make sure that information from the State Department, CIA, Department of Justice and others is coordinated at a central point. This seems to be a case of more than one cook spoils the broth.

Well ~ not sure how safe it will be ...
He got on the plane because he received a multiple-entry US visa from the US Embassy in London. So far, no official has said anything about this bit as discussed in this piece yesterday.
