GE Coffee Maker Recall: Coffee Maker Sold At Walmart, Model #s
A General Electric Coffee Maker Sold Exclusively at Walmart is Being Recalled
The 12-cup digital coffee maker was sold exclusively at Walmart across the United States but now the retail giant is voluntarily recalling 900,000 of these coffee makers due to reports of overheating, burning, fires and smoking.
The coffee makers were sold in either white or black from March 2008 to January 2010 and had the model numbers 169164 or 169165 printed on them. Pictures of the coffee makers.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has received about 83 complains about this coffee maker, forcing Walmart to recall the product. In three of the complaints the consumer said they received minor burns after using this coffee maker and in others consumers said that there was damage to their property, including a significant kitchen fire and damage to the wall and counters in the kitchen.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using these coffee makers and return them to any Walmart for a full refund.
If you have any questions you can call Walmart at (800) 925-6278 between the hours of 7am and 9pm CT Monday to Friday.
As a result of the recall, shares in GE have fallen.

Good old Walmart! (called Asda here) one of the best examples of "you buy cheap - you get cheap" retailers.
