Glenn Beck advertising boycott has right-wing bloggers worried

You know, I must admit, when I first signed on to the Beck boycott I was participating on principal, but expected little or no impact.  Let's face it, we've done these before with little or no success.  But thanks to a combination of blatant race baiting and a wonderful organization called Color of Change, it has worked far beyond almost anyone's expectations.  This is especially true of those on the right.

Rarely do I agree with the cap on the freedom of speech - no matter how vile it may be, but we are, after all, human and we can think for ourselves. Some, agreed, cannot - but if you are a TV presenter of any worth you know that you do have an influence on your viewers lives - well, after all, that is why they watch you.

So, what is it that Glenn Beck - and the other presenters on Fox, doing so wrong that advertisers are pulling their adverts hence the funding for that show?

Well - advertisers do a little more research than TV presenters and their producers. And it is a widely known fact that the American electorate voted for one B H Obama - and the manifesto that he brought forward.

I can envisage more advertisers looking at what the Murdoch owned channel is doing. And we all know how Murdoch feels about advertising revenue - he wants it and a lot of it.

If the advertisers keep pulling out of the Beck show - who will be next? Fox have to start looking at being a bit more responsible - because, God forbid, someone goes stir crazy because of the incitement on their programming - I can see advertisers pulling away from them 100%.

Free speech is admirable in any society, yet with that right comes a great responsibility.

The laugh is on everyone who thinks Fox News is being punished.  None of the advertisers pulled their spots from Fox, they only moved them to a different time slot.  So, Fox doesn't lose any money, there are still plenty of advertisers remaining on Beck, and Beck's show will gain MORE, not less viewers.  BRILLIANT!

Eight more Glenn Beck advertisers, including Wal-Mart – the world’s largest retailer – have confirmed to ColorOfChange.org that they pulled their ads from the controversial Fox News Channel broadcaster’s eponymous show. Allergan (maker of Restasis), Ally Bank (a unit of GMAC Financial Services), Best Buy, Broadview Security, CVS, Re-Bath, Travelocity and Wal-Mart join the dozen other companies who previously distanced themselves from Beck.

Let's make this correction: " blatant race baiting " of the "organization called Color of Change, it has worked"    Those that do watch Beck know that he has never made a racist remark.  If those of color know that they are guilty of the abuses that Beck points out feel guilt, that is their problem and there is no rational for making it a race issue.  Unfrotunately, everytime the left feels its is losing an issue, they turn it into a race issue.  The spineless companies that let CoC dictate their business practices deserve to lose the customers that believe in honest and factual based opinions.

Keep up boycott Call and email companies that continue to support Beck. Yeah they just move to other Fox programs and even replaced by companies who sell to his base viewers but enough pullouts over time will have impact.  Miguel - Beck called Obama a racist what are you talking about facts?

"Free speech is admirable in any society, yet with that right comes a great responsibility."This is an amazing post, because it is so BACKWARD. The Democrat Party has been totally irresponsible in its use of slander and attack over the past 8.5 years. How many soldiers might not be dead if Harry "THE WAR IS LOST!!!" Reid and his crowd had not tried so hard to lose in Iraq, for their own political gain. We are beyond irresponsible with that party...we are in to outright treason. And NO, the American people DID NOT vote for "B H Obama's" manifesto, because they had NO IDEA what it was! He was NEVER grilled to provide detail by YOUR media; he is the most unqualified and unvetted "president" in my lifetime.Clearly none of you on this board actually watched Beck's shows. He has presented Obama and those that surround him IN THEIR OWN WORDS. There has been NO race-baiting or misinformation...except from Obama and his own administration. And Obama is indeed a racist. I have considered him a racist since he first started campaigning. Again, clearly none of you have read "Dreams From My Father." And the Gates incident ALONE puts on full display that Obama looks at skin color first; context of event and content of character second, if ever.As for Beck...his ratings are at an all time HIGH, and most advertisers will not be bullied by the racist, misnamed Color of Change.

Beck breaks 3 million viewers - tvbythenumbers.com/2009/08/27/big-beck-goes-over-3-million-viewers-beats-oreilly-in-demo-cable-news-ratings-for-wednesday-august-26-2009/25541 "I can see advertisers pulling away from them 100%." --- LMAO Then you obviously know nothing of advertising. ;-) With the rating Beck has been putting up, it won't be long before advertisers begin testing the resilience of the those petitioners and begin placing money where their ads will be seen and generate sales. All advertising is based on getting in front of the biggest population as possible. Right now, Fox is holding most of the viewers of news and they know it. They will hold onto their cards and flush the advertisers to come back to them. As advertisers start scrambling back to fill Beck's time slots Fox will make a killing on advertising revenue.
