Chevy's new Volt, electric-powered car is clocked as getting at least 230 miles per gallon in city driving.
The new car, set for production in 2010, will travel up to 40 miles on a single electrical charge and its overall range will be 300 miles with its dual fuel/electic engine.
The rough cost for electricity is $2.75 per 100 miles.
The Volt, which runs purely on electricity for the first 40 miles of driving, carries a small internal combustion engine on board to generate electricity after the battery has drained.
The electric Chevrolet Volt is expected to get at least 230 miles per gallon in city driving. That adds up to about $2.75 for electricity per 100 miles.

It is too bad it is made by GM. I'm sure it will be a clunker in 5 years like most of the crap they build. Let's hope this prompts higher quality manufacturers to make similar products.
