People on Twitter are giving advice on how to check your gmail while it is down. It might be useful for heavy gmail users still without service.

Its okay today. It does go down sometimes but its normally up and running quickly I never get upset as a heavy user.

Apparently, there were some service interruptions yesterday as well.

Jay Nancarrow, a Google spokesman, said in an e-mail to Computerworld that the service was down for about an hour and 45 minutes. He added that it affected the majority of Gmail's tens of millions of users.

I had a scare today because I didn't know how reliant I was on gmail. Maybe it would be a good idea to have a duplicate account with all my stuff on it.
