Google in the dark

Hello. I am uploading this during Earth Hour (we came into it 20 minutes late, because we forgot. Maybe we will carry it on 20 minutes extra, so we've done the full hour). *Nearly* all our lights our off - tea is cooking, and Sj's night vision is quite poor, so the kitchen light has had to stay on to keep from any comedy stepping-on-cats-whilst-checking-the-grill mishaps. It is, however, an energy saver, so not as bad as it could be. We've turned the fishtank light off and everything, though.

Do you think that makes up for the kitchen safety light? I hope so.

Anyway, yes, Earth Hour was from 8-9pm tonight. The idea behind it is that everyone turns their lights off for an hour, to be all aware of the amount of difference just a small act toward saving energy makes if everyone does it together. I would love it if makes a noticeable dip in the national grid tonight. I mean, if millions of people making cups of tea after Eastenders sends the grid soaring, hopefully enough people doing this should give it enough of a trough to be visable.

I took a screenshot of Google, because I thought it was particularly smart that they'd turned their light off, too. It will go back on in a little while, so here it is for all of you who were even better than me & turned their laptops off, too.

****Addendum - food has finished cooking now, so we have all the lights off properly. Hurrah!
