Google Unveils Google Instant - Google Demonsrates Google Instant Using Bob Dylan Song And Video
Google debuted a new product called Google Instant which streams results onto computer screens as the user begins typing - thereby eliminating the need for hitting the pesky Enter key, according to the San Jose Mercury News
Google calls Google Instant a "fundamental shift' in the way people conduct internet search.
We're really trying to make sure we have search as fast and as efficient as possible," Marissa Mayer, Google's vice president of search products and user experience, said in an announcement at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. "It's really providing results in real time before you have the opportunity to type your query."

So, instead of doing one search based on a complete term, Google is doing a new search when each character is added.
Every query becomes exponentially more expensive, though users probably won't notice any lag time: slow-loading Javascript elements will be more evident, though.
(Google says they're solving the problem with "creative caching", but they'll need to store more cache than Jay-Z's couch)

What is going to be the impact for advertisers? Many pay per impression -- not per click -- so presumably, advertising revenue is going to increase for Google? But at what expense? Is Google going to become a less effective way for businesses to attract customers.

I think this would mean that Google would get more keywords for advertisers and ultimately this will increase Google's revenue.
