On September 21, 2009, the Google Webmaster Central blog answered many questions when they let the world know how they view and use the keyword meta tag. This is important because hundreds of thousands of people use those meta tags and without Google using them, soon nobody will.
Recently we received some questions about how Google uses (or more accurately, doesn't use) the "keywords" meta tag in ranking web search results.
At least for Google's web search results currently (September 2009), the answer is no. Google doesn't use the "keywords" meta tag in our web search ranking.

it's been suspected for years that Google don't use keyword meta tags or description but the title meta tag remains important.

Yes you are correct.
It just has a little more reinforcement when it's "official".

Even if its been from a remote location, I've never stopped reading the news here at NowPublic. I don't want my NP account to go dormant or anything so I'm going to be contributing once per month here.
*I did look around for you and Barry's account while I was posting this story.

Yeah I just checked it out. That was a long time ago.
Should we populate the meta keyword section with phrases like "duck porn" and "table tennis balls for blind" just to pass the time? Sounds like real trouble to me.
