What happens when a social networking community based on photography and art is run by anti-social people? They self destruct, driving away the real artists expressing themselves, and encouraging lowest common denominator snapshot images, including by the staff. Starting with the causal disposal of people they dislike, the complex censorship encouraged by Yahoo's buyout of Stewart Butterfield and Catarina Fake's creation (both of which are now untouchable, since there's been an endless assault from the people who MADE flickr what it was against these money-pig sell-outs), and continuing by encouraging the god-complex behavior of the staff (top level staff like Heather Champ). The "About Flickr" page no longer even links it's staff... i wonder why.

The PDF (Item 1, below) is my way of showing what the deletion of a pro account, and the theft of six months worth of a pro subscription fee, looks and feels like.

It looks like this: flickr hates you logo and...

1. here - It FEELS like this: a 11.06 MB PDF document of pages salvaged via Google caches (praise the Google cache and the many friends who helped me find these items). The document iconifies what flickr is all about: deleting artistic and thoughtful content and destroying social networking. It contains interaction between myself and other flickr members, showing that it wasn't just me and i wasn't always completely insane. There are parts of a long discussion regarding the deletion of a woman's image by flickr staff, which caused a firestorm of hate towards flickr, as this woman was highly regarded. Take a look at the pathetic commentary from staff and the butt-snokeling Dr. Keats, who likes to be the authority figure every time someone posts something "controversial." You'd think he's staff, he's so quick to jump on people in forums. Some of the content in that conversation was linked in my old blog entries about flickr. There was excellent argumentation by Dave Ward and a lame PR response by Stewart Butterfield who refused to even respond to my communication. The thread was prematurely and unsatisfactorily closed by Heather Champ after George started "aggro" with member Dave Ward, who's response to George's "suggestion assault" was perfect, especially where he pointed out the god-complex issues going on wih flickr staff being able to do whatever they want... just because they can. i have this locked thread archived and ready for display in case flickr decides to revise history again.

Too bad i don't have all the pages and emails from the original, paid, pro account they deleted. i wasn't always so easily pissed off or driven to rants in public forums until Michelle decided to delete me, without notice or warning (that's called "shoot first, don't ask questions").

Also note the turn-arounds in behavior/attitude from several members as reflected in the way they later talked to me via email and comments on my blog. Oh, please note that the whole "Dave Sewel issue" is, in my opinion, closed, but it did cause me quite a bit of personal agitation that was totally unneeded. Dave has since made a very kind apology, as has Tara.

2. here - An example that i'm not such a horrible person after all (this is out of character for me, showing off positive commentary about my own self, but it seems the times require it).

3. here - A 5.09 MB PDF "image sampler" from those times. It's really pretty bare but has a few samples of each type of images i had in the account (i think). i was very careful to moderate my own content, and had a rating approval of "safe" by staff just prior to my deletion.

4. here - A 37.78 MB PDF. This is the full (well, mostly complete) image set - beauty, stupidity, fun, hate, self-desecration seeking identification, honoraries to loved ones, etc... Remember: i was very careful to moderate my own content, and had a rating approval of "safe" by staff just prior to my deletion.

5. here is a particular favourite response of mine to an ugly "mind control meme" used by many a "just foget it" kind of person. The intelligent response is again by Dave Ward.

6. here is an even better one...
