Carl Sagan - Cosmos Intro

Happy Birthday, Carl Sagan. Superstar astronomer Carl Sagan passed away in 1996 due to bone marrow disease, and would have been 75 today. Most of know of Carl Sagan (and his distinctive voice) from Cosmos, which was the outer space series of the 1980s. Carl Sagan wrote outer-space fiction (Contact) and nonfiction (Pale Blue Dot), along with hundreds of scientific papers and articles. Sagan was also a consultant for NASA during the Apollo missions, and came up with the answer to why Venus has such a high surface temperature, which was ultimately confirmed by the Mariner 2 mission a few years later.

Carl Sagan was also a main proponent for SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence).

Carl Sagan is survived by his wife, writer Ann Druyan, and his children, Dorion, Jeremy, Nick, Alexandra, and Samuel.
