1908 GM
16th September 1908, a certain William Crapo Durant from the U.S. state of Michigan founded a company, that in a breathtaking speed developed to the  largest automotive group in the world : General Motors, "the GM." In the Start-up Year, the visionary from Boston  acquired the  Company Buick, which a few years earlier started as a specialist for "horseless coaches.

GM, Buick, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, Cadillac
In a short time Durant bought other companies, that focused on  the vehicle of the future . Oldsmobile and Oakland - the Pontiac brand later - were subsidiaries of the GM group. One year after the founding f oGM, the GM-man from Michigan acquired the Cadillac Automobile Company, producing since 1902 automotive vehicles, representing in the coming years and decades the luxury brand in the GM group,  the image of the elegant American luxury street cruiser.

2008 Chevy Volt
This year the first photos showed up of the Chevy Volt electric car, competing with Toyota prius. GM wants to provide the infrastructure for city and home recharging.
