Honda Recall 2010: Honda Civic, Honda Accord, Honada Element From 2003-2004

Honda is recalling 428,000 vehicles in the USA and Canada for a defect that would enable cars that were "improperly" parked to roll away. Of the 428,000, 44 thousand are in Canada and include some Acura 1.7 EL models for 2003-2004.

Honda said that in some situations a part known as the ignition interlock lever could fail.

That device is intended to keep drivers from removing their key from the ignition when the vehicle has not been put in park. If the ignition switch fails, that could allow vehicles to roll away when parked incorrectly, causing accident

Honda says recall notices will start being issued in September.

he National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, said it has received 16 complaints alleging failure of the ignition interlock mechanism on the recently recalled vehicles.
