Honda will recall 646,000 vehicles due to potentially faulty window switches. The Honda recall affects the Honda Fit hatchback, which is called the Honda Jazz in the UK and the Honda City in Asia.
The Honda recall is focused on the driver-side window switch, which can melt or combust when explosed to liquid. These switches must be either replaced or retrofitted with a new waterproof housing. If you drive a Honda Fit (Honda Jazz), contact your deealer, or call 1-800-999-1009 (US) for more detail.
"If the master power window switch is damaged as a result of the liquid intrusion, it may result in failure of the switch and overheating.
"An overheating switch may cause smoke, melting or, potentially, fire," it added.
Last year, Honda had to issue a recall for vehicles fitted with Takata air bags due to a defect.

Gonna get bad PR. Think these recalls might help American automakers in the long run?

In Asia, we have both the Honda Fit and Honda Jazz. They are generally the same, but can have different engine types and specs. The Honda City is a different model altogether.
