Deactivating a Facebook Account is straightforward but it does not delete your account completely. With deactivation a users profile, information are made inaccessible to other Facebook users and in order to reactivate you simply log in as usual. So, deactivation is essentially a temporary break from Facebook.

How To Deactivate Facebook Account

To deactivate your account, navigate to the "Settings" tab on the Account Settings page. Deactivation will remove your profile and content associated with your account from Facebook. In addition, users will not be able to search for you or view any of your information.

How To Delete Facebook Account

Deleting a Facebook account is a permanent action and can not be undone. Almost all a users records are "purged" from Facebook's database - name, email, address, contact information.
