How to get Google Wave Invites

Since Google Wave made its debut on September 30th in preview version, invites have been limited to only 100,000 people.
There are primarily three ways to obtain an invite:
- Developers who had already signed up in June for an earlier developer preview
- The first users who signed up for an account when they first announced it on wave.google.com
- Select businesses and universities running Google apps
So there you go, 100,000 invites divvied up between a very select group of people. I admit that I am not one of the three groups mentioned above but I was still able to obtain an invite through a friend from the 7th grade.
Unlike the Gmail invite system, Google Wave doesn't permit each user the permission to give away more invites. I was a little disappointed when I found this out because I was hoping to share it with all my peeps. Right now, I am limited to only my two Junior High School friends, so that makes Google Wave less useful for me.
There are also still key features of Google Wave that we have yet to fully implement. For example, you can't yet remove a participant from a wave or define groups of users, draft mode is still missing and you can't configure the permissions of users on a wave. We'll be rolling out these and other features as soon as they are ready — over the next few months.
