How Much Money Does the Tooth Fairy Give These Days? A Recent Survey Offers Some Insight On How Much the Tooth Fairy Should Give in 2011-2012.

We all know that inflation infects everything. Who among us hasn't griped that things cost so much more than they did when we were children. No doubt inflation has infected one childhood rite of passage: payment from the tooth fairy.

A recent Wall Street Journal article explored the age-old question for anyone with children: How much does the tooth fairly leave these days? No doubt, when we were children the going rate for the tooth fairy was in the 25-cent range. Nowadays, not so much.

The WSJ story quoted a survey by Visa, which notes that the average tooth fairy amount in 2011 was $2.60, down from $3.00 in 2010. That's right, the tough economy means that even the tooth fairy has had to cut back.

Our best guess that if the tooth fairy is visiting your child in 2011 or 2012, he or she will leave somewhere between $2.50 to $3.00.
