HP TouchPad Sale: Get Them Cheap (and Obsolete)
HP Discontinues TouchPads, Smartphones, WebOS
Hewlett-Packard (HP) has discontinued the manufacture of its TouchPad tablets and Pre smartphones. WebOS is effectively dead.
However, TouchPad stock remains throughout the world, and those HP TouchPads are going on sale for around $99. That's insanely cheap for a 16GB tablet. $150 is also cheap for a 32GB tablet.
However, your cheap TouchPad is a dead device walking (or tapping): with no further development to WebOS, your device will not be getting new software or firmware upgrades. The hardware will still be under warranty, and the current version of WebOS may get some fixes, but the tablet will never improve.
Also, the already-moribund app ecosystem around WebOS is dead now for sure. Who is going to develop for a dead operating system?
"It is what it is" actually means something in this case.
Also, you'll notice that those TouchPad commercials with Russell Brand and Manny Pacquiao are still airing. Awkward. Even when it debuted, the TouchPad was a distant also-ran against the iPad 2 and Android-based devices like the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Even the BlackBerry Playbook was beating it.
HP swears that WebOS will live on, and that "the whole world isn't just about tablets and phones". However, at the moment, it pretty much is. Forgive us if we take HP's optimistic statement with a grain of salt- after all, they're the ones selling WebOS-based hardware as quickly as humanly possible.

You mean this device can't work with ANY other OS? In that case, it's not even worth $99. If, however, a hack can be done to make it work with, say, Android, then it's such a deal...
