Funny that it is new media saving journalists rather than the mainstream, all things considered.

"NEW YORK — The Huffington Post said Sunday that it will bankroll a group of investigative journalists, directing them at first to look at stories about the nation's economy.

The popular Web site is collaborating with The Atlantic Philanthropies and other donors to launch the Huffington Post Investigative Fund with an initial budget of $1.75 million. That should be enough for 10 staff journalists who will primarily coordinate stories with freelancers, said Arianna Huffington, co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post."

Stories produced by the newly hired journalists will be available for re-posting just as any other piece posted on The Huffington Post. This move will swell the Post's current ranks of seven staff reporters.

Thanks for this story, fromama. Are you having difficulty with NowPublic's highlight tool?

Yes, Highlight and Firefox don't seem to like each other that much on my computer! The tab comes up at the bottom of the screen, but doesn't remain logged in by the time I hit 'Post'. Hopefully I can re-download the app and try it out again...
