Bjorgvin Sigurdsson, Iceland's Minister of Business Affairs, has resigned following three months of economic turmoil due to the banking collapse, which has brought widespread demonstrations, rioting, and the resignation of the Prime Minister.

With elections called for May, the current government is meeting to come up with a plan to stay afloat.

There have been regular protests in Iceland since the financial collapse, with about 6,000 to 7,000 people demonstrating in front of Parliament Saturday -- one of the biggest protests to date, a spokesman for the prime minister said.
