iFart Phone App a Huge Hit; iBoob Rejected
The number of apps for the iPhone appear to be endless. The latest hit is a series of fart applications that generate in the neighborhood of $10,000 a day in sales.
And now, just in a quick search, it looks like there are about 50 apps all dedicated to making fart noises on your iPhone or iPod touch. Classy, I know, but why are there so many?
Because apparently there’s big money in fart apps — nearly $10,000 a day for the most popular ones.
Some of the most popular iPhone fart apps have names such as iFart, Fart Button, Mr. Poot!, iToot, iFart, iFartz, FartBox, Who Farted? and Whoopee Cushion.
One of the real innovators of the fart app was Pull My Finger, a program that produced a fart noise whenever you pulled a virtual finger.
While the fine folks at Apple appear to be cool with apps that pass gas, they're not so keen on other anatomical-themed apps.
Apple rejected the iBoob app, which allows users to jiggle a pair of breats by shaking their iPhone.
The developers of "iBoobs" say they were told by the computer giant that the application was rejected because of "objectionable content".
"If you believe that you can make the necessary changes so that iBoobs does not violate the iPhone SDK Agreement we encourage you to do so," Apple said.
