iPad 3: Rumored Specs, Announcement Date

The iPad 2 has been out for nearly a year, and so the iPad 3 announcement is expected very soon. Indeed, rumors point to March 7, 2012 as the iPad 3 announcement date, to coincide with the launch of iOS 5.3.1.

MacRumors got its hands on an 9.7-inch screen supposedly sourced as the iPad 3 display, and confirmed that the resolution will be 2048x1536:

The iPad 3 will also supposedly boast an A6 quad-core processor. Another persistent, but somewhat less-likely, rumor is that the iPad 3 will have LTE 4G network capability. The iOS devices are manufactured for global deployment, and LTE is not used much outside North America.

The iPad 3 will also, as rumor has it, boast a better camera and more smudge-resistant surfaces.
