The Apple iPhone OS 3.0 release time has yet to be announced, but it will get a wide release at some point on Wednesday, adding a number of long-awaited features and new apps. Current iPhone owners can get the iPhone 3.0 update download for free from iTunes and iPod touch users can get it for $9.95. For all of those wishing to use the iPhone jailbreak, the iPhone Dev Team has showcased their unlock for the new firmware, and the ultrasn0w unlocking tool will be available by Friday.

Along with several extra applications, such as extensive parental controls and in-app purchasing, there are a number of new features available. These include multimedia messaging, voice recording, buying and renting movies and TV shows and many more.

Current iPhone owners can download the software from iTunes for free, and iPod Touch users can get it as well, but for a fee of $9.95, just like the last OS update. What time exactly, we don't know yet. Apple will only say iPhone OS 3.0 will come out sometime Wednesday.
