Apple tried to silence a family who owned an iPod Touch that exploded. Ken Stanborough from Liverpool and his daughter received a settlement proposal from Apple which would offer a full refund only if they sign a confidential agreement.
Ken Stanborough, 47, from Liverpool, dropped his 11-year-old daughter Ellie’s iPod Touch last month. “It made a hissing noise,” he said. “I could feel it getting hotter in my hand, and I thought I could see vapour”. Mr Stanborough said he threw the device out of his back door, where “within 30 seconds there was a pop, a big puff of smoke and it went 10ft in the air”.
Mr Stanborough, who works in electronic security, refused to sign the agreement.
“They’re putting a life sentence on myself, my daughter and Ellie’s mum, not to say anything to anyone. If we inadvertently did say anything, no matter what, they would take litigation against us. I thought that was absolutely appalling.
Apple had tried to silence incidents of iPods bursting into flames. They had been quite successful at doing so until the past few week. A reporter from a Seattle TV station received 800 pages of information regarding iPod explosions after she requested Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for the information. The process was delayed for months by Apple's lawyers.

I think ipods have exploded in someone's pocket before.
My own ipod didn't explode but it was hot to touch and as I thought it was in danger of exploding I'd report it.
I didn't get anywhere. I still have a dangerous ipod but refuse to use it.

Yeah I just read that from the news story. They had a link to the medical report.
