Ivy Bean, the World's Oldest Person on Twitter, Has Died at the Age of 104

She had a number of fanpages, almost 60,000 followers on Twitter and tweeted about everything from meeting Gordon Brown and Peter Andre to fish and chips, but sadly Ivy Bean passed away on July 28 at the age of 104.

She was not shy to embrace new technology and opened her Twitter account last year while living in a residential home on the outskirts of Bradford, England. She also had a Facebook page that was very active, but fell ill last month and her Twitter feed was taken over by the manger of the home named Pat.

She kept Ivy's followers updated with news of her failing health and she passed away just after midnight on Wednesday.

ivy passed away peacefully at 12.08 this morning

Followers have expressed sadness at her passing:

LukeMarsden    I think a nice tribute to Ivy Bean would be if Twitter gave her account the little verified blue tick. She would have liked that.
