Jon and Heather Armstrong of Dooce.com in ‘Trial Separation’
Jon and Heather Armstrong, who have built up a blog from a typical mom-blog to Armstrong Media, are on a trial separation while they work things out.
Jon and Heather Armstrong brought their separation public Tuesday in their personal blogs. Both entries are heart wrenching and responsible, unlike many separations that end with lots of arguing and children being put in between.
Heather Armstrong began blogging in 2001, becoming famous for her straightforward thoughts and opinions on music, media, and being herself. She and Jon met the same year and since have had two children.
Heather has suffered from postpartum depression, and at one time was institutionalized by herself to help get better. They both mention the depression in their blogs. Heather says “No, this is me facing a list of issues that I have neglected, issues that have subsequently settled like dust to the bottom of my soul. And a few weeks of intense running, time spent alone on sidewalks tripping over limitations and physical pain have stirred it all up in a giant, suffocating cloud.”
Jon says “As I’ve written before, living with someone with depression & anxiety means some gymnastics for any partner. Lest you think this is solely about that lone issue or issues stemming from Heather’s mental health, I am plenty to blame for this state of things."
Their children, Leta and Marlo are doing well, as both Heather and Jon both say in their blog posts. Well, as okay as any child would be with their parents living under two separate roofs. They are staying in the house with Heather, that was just purchased in 2010.
Heather has asked Jon to find work outside of their business together, Armstrong Media, in which they both feel is the best situation for both of them. Jon is currently looking for design work and a place to live in the Salt Lake City area.

How many people have fantasized about being Heather Armstrong? The handsome husband who dotes on her, the beautiful little girls, all the money she makes from her website ads, the huge mansion she lives in, the beautiful way she decorated it, the people that write her daily praising her and stroking her ego, the cool things she gets from companies for free, her ability to do just about whatever she wants in the world and brag about it when things go great, and lament about it when things go awry, always knowing that she is admired and sought after and has all these amazing resources to back her up so that no matter what happens, all will be good, all will work out?So yeah, life happens and if we're to believe this is not a publicity stunt to yield more ratings and attention to her website and is for real (many are calling it just that, to be able to charge the advertisers more because of this amazing news), maybe her handsome husband has finally had ENOUGH of the insanity and stress that accompanies living her life? Or could one of them had an affair? Who knows what the true story is. The possibilities are endless. One thing is certain: They both have tons of support on the homefront and in their personal lives and lots of dollars to pay for therapy , many people are lending their ears and soothing their fragile feelings; they should both end up totally fine. And you can be sure theres many folks just dying to step into their shoes and be a new partner for both.
