What the Hell is Going On in the Kiki Trick Trailer?

Kiki Trick is the new game from Yoshio Sakamoto, who also created Metroid and Wario Ware. Once you watch the Kiki Trick trailer, you'll have only one question: What the hell is going on?

Kiki Trick is the first Wii game of 2012 for Nintendo of Japan, and it's a lot more like Wario Ware than Metroid.

You may find yourself scratching your head after watching the game trailer and writing Kiki Trick off as "more weirdness from Japan", but the language barrier is even more relevant than normal: Kiki Trick is a series of mini-games based on sound and language. It is a game of listening, which is interesting, since Wii is ostensibly about seeing and moving.

Along with the game trailer, we've also added a video of Yoshiro Sakamoto doing a developer's walkthrough of Kiki Trick with Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, who looks equal parts fascinated and perplexed.

Kiki Trick is slated for a January 19, 2012 release date in Japan.
