At first, the headline seems a bit counterintuitive, but, considering the worldwide economic downturn, laptop vendors are asking Intel to delay the release of its latest and greatest chipset, so that they (the vendors) can dump their existing inventory.

In an industry of planned obsolescence, doesn't this just give us more of a reason to just wait?

Knowing that a faster chipset is ready and waiting for us and our friends to buy the not-fastest-anymore laptops will surely encourage us to either hang on to our existing machines or fix them if their broken- this looks better on paper than it sounds out loud.

So, they want to see Calpella and its Nehalem CPUs (aka Core i7 on the desktops) in October instead of the summer, meaning you've got a wait another few months to get your hands on all the zoomzoom power of Nehalem in a notebook. Laaaame.
