Is this the last Christmas for MGA's Bratz Dolls?
The dolls that rivaled Barbie - Bratz dolls - have to come off store shelves, but not until after the winter holiday season. A jury had already decided that the doe-eyed Bratz dolls violated Mattel's copyright. But the jury was not told to decide whether the infringement involved only the four original dolls - or the three dozen that followed, as well. Now they all have to come down.
NEW YORK - Pouty-lipped Bratz will stay on store shelves until after the holidays, but their fate after that — and that of their parent, MGA Entertainment Inc. — was uncertain Thursday after a federal court ruling banning MGA from making the saucy Barbie alternative.
MGA is appealing the ruling which — if upheld — is a severe blow for the company and an equal boon for Barbie maker Mattel Inc., which has been duking it out with MGA over Bratz for four years.
Late Wednesday, a federal judged banned MGA from making and selling all 40 dolls in the Bratz line, which it began selling in 2001, including the four originals — Yasmine, Chloe, Sasha and Jade. U.S.
The ruling, issued in a California federal court, followed a jury's finding that Bratz designer Carter Bryant developed the concept for the dolls while working for Mattel. The same jury later awarded Mattel $10 million for copyright infringement and up to $90 million for breach of contract after a lengthy trial stemming from Mattel's 2004 lawsuit ended in August.
"At retail, Bratz occupies about 24 feet at Toys "R" Us, 11 feet at Target and 12 to 16 feet at Wal-Mart," Johnson said. "Should this injunction hold, this time next year, that shelf space will be up for grabs in the fashion doll isle."

In my opinion I think Bratz are the best doll ever. I have a 9 year old daughter who loves the Bratz dolls. MGA has made Bratz as popular as they are due to thier advertising and marketing stratagies. MGA has had a great amount of success. Mattel is just angry with their success and because of this they have compiled this rediculous lawsuit. I dont care who worked where when the concept was created. It is MGA's concept and they have created a wonderful journey into a childs imagination. This lawsuit isn't just going to hurt MGA it is going to hurt the companies target buyers. You know the ones that influence their parents to purchase items. The little ones that keep toy companies in buisness OUR CHILDREN! Imagine taking your child with you to the store and she asks for a Bratz doll and you have to explain to her that Mattel made it so that Bratz are not allowed to be sold anymore. How tragic is that? Our girls are going to suffer this win! If Mattel really cared for children they would drop this lawsuit. It's rediculous and petty. There are intirely to many lawsuits going on in the world. Mattel is just jealous of MGA's success. Spread the word and stop the large corporate companies from turning the lights off on the little companies. Just maybe with enough voices they will hear us and do something smart for a change!

Same as Barbie, Bratz doll has been a popular brand in toy fashion doll market, but Barbie is still ahead of it. Bratz have provoked controversy in several areas, because of the offensive characters dress styles, which seem a like provocative manner that isn't appropriate to children and pre-teens. Likwise as Dora the Explorer, a popular kid's show, which is now selling merchandise by Mattel. Mattel decided to "update" Dora for the elementary school crowd (because their tastes are so refined) and made Dora into a "tween" version – in other words what she would look like as a preadolescent. Because a lot of people think the new version is overtly sexualized and reminiscent of the Bratz dolls, which were aimed at ages 8-12 and had attire that most respectable adults won't wear outdoors, that's why it has created a backlash Are we so bored that we need to know how Dora the Explorer is going to grow up – like when she goes to cartoon college?

Caro Giovanni,
spero ti ricorderai ancora del tuo amico d'infanzia a San Giuseppe Jato! Sarò presto a Londra per motivi di studio e mi chiedevo se per caso non avessimo la possibilità di prendere un caffé insieme e chiacchierare un po'.
Se ti fa piacere, scrivimi a fg.polizzi@libero.it così ci mettiamo d'accordo. A presto!
