Left's achievements, Right's parasitism
American Left has been the true reason for America's greatest accomplishments. From winning the First and Second World War under Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt, to achievements of American science, to universal education and civil rights, to the computer industry that was the true reason for America's 1980s and 1990s prosperity, it was the Democrats and even the Greens that led the way. The science from which has come every product that businesses sell on the market, the Interstate that allows businesses to reach theircustomers all around the country, education that makes people employable, and the Internet that has made possible the computerization and vast gain in business efficiency, are all government projects. As for computer industry, based as it is on personal computer designed by a hippie, it is a solid Democratic endeavor, based in solid Democratic Bay Area, Washington State and Democratic-voting parts of DC Metropolitan Area, with Democrats forming both the bulkof its membership and its rank and file.
The things for which Republicans like to take credit, from America's military victories to its prosperity, are therefore owed much more rightfully to the Democrats. This is especially the case in recent decades. The Democratic Clinton administration gave America its greatest period of peace and prosperity, the only balanced budget in 40 years, a drastic drop in violent crime, and an overhaul of the government to make it efficient and user-friendly. The Republican Bush administration gave America five trillion dollars of debt, no new jobs, collapsing family incomes, and a horrendous economic crisis at its end.
Meanwhile the Republican entities, both in industry and in politics, are for the most part parasitical. One major Republican entity is the Texas Oil - an industry that burns with no sight for the future a resource that would be put to much better use to create plastics and pharmaceuticals, and whose burning adds hugely to the melting of glaciers, the acidification of oceans, the flooding of entire countries, and disastrous climatic events that have horrendous economic and human costs - when energy and water needs of humanity can be met much cheaper, much better, much more efficiently, and much more unobtrusively, through a process that takes in only the energy of the sun and the ocean water and produces only clean energy and clean water at the end. This entity has led for three decades the denial of fact, burning the world for its own short-sighted gain while misrepresenting everything to people and leading them to believe itself to be their ally and the people who knew what was going on to be their enemy.
Another parasitical Republican entity is the beef industry. America's farmland, with current technologies, could feed 2 billion people. Instead most of this land is used to raise cattle feed, so that instead of feeding 2 billion it feeds 300 million. The beef subsidies make beef cheaper than the cost it took to produce it, resulting in its gross overconsumption and the sickening of population, from little children to late adult. Instead of reaping huge economic benefit from selling food abroad and huge political benefit from giving it away in famines, America reaps diabetes, child obesity, and debt. These government-subsidized beef farmers then become militantly anti-government, finding it outrageous that they should pay taxes when it is the taxpayer's money that subsidizes their products so that they can be sold for a fraction of the cost it takes to make them.
Another parasitical Republican entity is Christian Right. These are the people who have decided that scientists and journalists are liars and sinners, and they in claiming such things are not. They have consistently aggressively denied fact and reality and put forth ridiculous explanations - explanations such as that AIDS is God's way of controlling the homosexual population and that 9-11 happened because God took away his protective umbrella over America due to liberals and feminists in the country. This entity is not only teaching people that there will be an Armageddon in our lifetime, but is teaching them to anticipate it, to hope for it, and to work to bring it about while sabotaging any effort directed toward creating a long-term sustainable future for America and for humankind. This is an entity of mass-scale conmanship and deception, and it gains from as much as it demands through its anti-educational policies the lowering of intelligence of America's population even as it is working day and night to sabotage their future and that of their children while claiming ridiculously to represent family values, responsibility and American patriotism.
Another parasitical Republican entity is the anti-government truckers who use government-built, government-maintained Interstate system to deliver products made by anti-government government-subsidized farmers to big liberal cities that are their markets. These people do not want to pay tax either, when it is again taxpayer money that has created the infrastructure that they use daily to do business and taxpayer money again that is being used to keep it in operating condition.
Finally we see, on the government Internet of all places, militias and right-wing groups that hategovernment and want it out of the picture so that the people in the communities in which they operate have no protection against them. These entities want to be free of government's constitutional protections of people's rights in order that they have absolute power over the communities in which they operate and get away with the grossest abuses against the people in these communities. While many of these entities describe themselves as freedom fighters, in fact they are totalitarians who want absolute power over communities in which they live, including the absolute power to murder, rape, injure, batter, or destroy the lives of anyone they find inconvenient, and the absolute power to force everyone else into their party line and destroy them should they disagree.
It is time that American Right stop getting away with conmanship and deception, and that such things be seen for what they are. And to the American Right claiming such things as that they are "real America" or that America is "their country," to respond, "You are not America. You are not the majority of America. And you are not its better part either." When the rest of the world looks at America, it's not Omaha or Waco that they know and look up to. It is New York, San Francisco or Los Angeles. It is these places that have given America its greatest accomplishments, and it is these places that deserve to speak for America and to take credit therefor.
