The U.S.Treasury Department has approved 10 of the country's largest banks to begin repaying $68 billion in bailout money.

The banks have been eager to repay the money received through the government's Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) bailout program to avoid the imposition of caps and restrictions.

The Treasury Dept. did not name the ten approved banks, however, eight that passed the government's "stress tests" and two others (Morgan Stanley and Northern Trust Corp.) that did not pass or were not among the banks tested, have since confirmed that they have been approved to repay the TARP funds.
