Local Banks Branches Implement Dress Code for Customers
The surveillance cameras at your local bank may be trained on potential robbers but now many branches want all customers to make sure tellers can see their faces.
Some banks have a small print sign at entrances indicating that customers should not wear hats, scarves, or sunglasses in their branches. Banks don't want folks wearing anything that covers the face.
In the event of a robbery, those surveillance images become key evidence, according to FBI spokeswoman Jerri Williams:
"One of the most important things for us is a good, clear, surveillance photo."
PNC spokesman Ed Kozmor says tellers and bank officials want to be responsive to their customers and they will certainly be sensitive to the needs of cultures that wear face coverings for religious reasons:
"And we do respect those beliefs and customs."
Kozmore says removing hats and sunglasses also helps them transact business and get to know their customers.
