Macy's will close 11 stores, including one in Bellevue

Associated Press • January 8, 2009

NEW YORK — Macy's says it will close 11 underperforming stores in nine states — affecting 960 employees — after one of the weakest holiday seasons in years.

Closings will include the store at the Bellevue Center in Nashville, which opened in 1990. A company press release indicated that 76 employees there could be affected.

Other Macy's stores in the Nashville area, including those in Rivergate, Cool Springs, Green Hills and Hickory Hollow, were not on the list of stores targeted to be closed.

This is more bad news for my home town, Bellevue (Nashville, TN).
