Manganese Bronze makes 156 redundancies

The administrators of Manganese Bronze, the Coventry-based company that makes London black cabs, are making 156 staff redundant with immediate effect.
The announcement from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) comes just a day after it said it was in talks with an "encouraging" list of parties interested in the company's rescue.
The redundancies account for more than half of the firm's 274 UK employees.....Read more

Manganese Bronze recalls taxicabs
The financial viability of the leading manufacturer of London’s black taxi-cabs has been called into doubt by a product recall of 400 recently sold models and the suspension of further sales.
Coventry-based Manganese Bronze said on Friday that defects in new supplies of steering boxes used in its TX4 taxi model had forced its latest recall.
The problems stem from new parts, sourced from China, that were introduced into the lossmaking group’s Coventry factory in February. The switch was made as part of a wider cost-cutting programme that involved sourcing more components from Chinese suppliers....Read more
