Maytag has expanded an ongoing Maytag recall to include 46,000 more refrigerators from the Maytag®, Magic Chef®, Performa by Maytag® and Crosley® brands. Maytag announced the latest Maytag recall because of a fire hazard that may result from an electrical failure that causes the refrigerators to overheat.

The new Maytag recall is in addition to a previous Maytag recall made in March for 1.6 million refrigerators because of potential fire hazards. The refrigerators recalled in the March Maytag recall were from the following brands: Maytag®, Jenn-Air®, Amana®, Admiral®, Magic Chef®, Performa by Maytag® and Crosley®.

Maytag announced the newest recall because of 23 reports that it has received since the last recall about damage caused by the refrigerators.

Here is some more information about the models included in the latest Maytag recall:

The aforementioned refrigerators that are in question regarding the hazards, are side by side and top-freezer refrigerators made in black, bisque, white and stainless steel. These refrigerators are priced between $350 and $1,600 and were reportedly sold from September 2000 to May 2004.

The recalled refrigerators contain serial numbers ending with CN, CP, YY and YX or beginning with MZ.
