Worked ok today at 530pm pst... now it doesn't let me login or says I don't have an inbox, its not bouncing and vacation messages are still operational.

The sabotage slant is pretty worrying and how easy it is to disrupt major services (911, cell phone, public and private networks).

The problem is related to the cutting of AT&T fiber-optic cables in Santa Clara County Thursday. A senior Microsoft engineer in Mountain View says they are working to restore service. Don't panic-- your inbox and stored messages have not been permanently deleted.

Many users have been locked out of their accounts as problems with users inbox's seem to be inaccessible by any means. The problem appears to be system wide, as Microsoft reports on Twitter, stating "@MesaPink The issue will be resolved shortly sorry for the inconveinvce. It is system wide." Users are unable to access their inbox, as they attempt to login, they are given the error "You don't have an inbox...yet"

 - yahoo is the best! glad they didn't sell out to google/ms not long ago.

Maybe something screwed up on the traffic routing/load balancing with hotmail servers from the outage. Who knows.

ATT tweets:

"CA Outage Update: ETA for full service restoration to affected customers in Santa Clara & San Jose areas is now 9 pm Pacific Time."

"AT&T offering $100,000 reward for info leading to arrest/conviction of those responsible for CA vandalism. Call 408-947-STOP"

I just checked mine and it was good, thanks for this story though, wouldn't have heard about it otherwise.
