Microsoft’s Brilliant PR Strategy for Xbox 360: The Benefit of Untapped Social Environments

Console Wars

Despite constant chiding and mockery from the masses, Microsoft continues to impress with their frequent mastery of marketing. However, it's their often surprisingly effective grasp of BOTH marketing and philanthropy that vaults them ahead of the competition. Sure, cynics (and I count myself among their ranks) will chalk this up as so much posturing but hey -- the kids still win.

Microsoft is teaming up with a charity foundation to deliver Xbox 360 kiosks to children’s hospitals across America. Each of these kiosks will come with games, movies and access to a private nationwide network that’ll allow hospitalized children to play or chat with one another.

This is a nice gesture despite the obvious marketing ploy.
