Milk shortage looms for Germany
German dairy farmers have been staging protests against the new EU policies. As a result, German shops are running low on milk.
The German milk industry federation said that blockades of milk processing plants by angry farmers had cost the industry nearly 50m euros (£39.5m).Protesters have also emptied milk tankers onto the ground.
Farmers are demanding a minimum price of 0.43 euros (£0.34) a litre - at least 20% more than the current price.
They say rising fuel and feed costs have pushed up their operating costs but the retail price of milk has not increased correspondingly.

The European milk farmers really have no cause to smile as friendly as the nice bear on this photo, special the smaller family farms. You should get a fair price for her milk and for her daily work. It really cannot be that a bottle of mineral water is more expensive than 1 litre of this really valuable food.

This is how successful the milk boycott was on June 3 at my supermarket's cash register.
