Forbidden Kingdom Trailer 《功夫之王》預告 3
Lion's Gate has done a one-eighty from blocking an online version of their hotly-anticipated* movie poster. As discussed below, fans of the genre (and would-be fans of the film) can remix their own version s of the trailer for Forbidden Kingdom. The film itself is a riff on the legend of the Monkey King; the most well-known iteration of the tale can be found in Journey to the West, though I'm personally a fan of the mind-twistingly surreal Monkey series. Virtually all self-respecting Australian punk bands, I'm told, can do a version of Monkey's theme song. No word yet on if Jet Li's character will be able to duplicate himself by plucking his own chest hair, as was possible in the aforementioned TV show...

So you think you can edit a trailer for a martial-arts fantasy epic? Get to it!

Now that we are almost a month from opening day, cool stuff is starting to pop up all over the intertubes! Looks like Lionsgate and Youtube have put up a video remixer where you can use your skills to make your own cut of the Forbidden Kingdom trailer.

Interestingly Xinhua writes that Jet Li has altered the script of The Forbidden Kingdom to suit the Western Viewers.

"The Forbidden Kingdom," scheduled to be released in the United States this spring, follows an American teenager's fantasy journey to ancient China to rescue a mythological monkey king. Li plays the monkey king and a silent monk, while Chan plays another monk called T'sa-Ho."

"... I know remix-fu!"
"... Show me."

Update: I deleted my own entry, because it sucked.

(* Hotly anticipated by fans of Jet Li, Jackie Chan, monkeys, and/or Journey to the West)
