An auction of fine wines has exceeded Monday in New York on $ 2 million, doubling estimates of Sotheby's, which was mainly sold in Asia and on the Internet.

The market had estimated revenue of the sale between 1 and 1.5 million.

The five most expensive lots were sold to Asian customers, who paid 48,400 dollars for 12 bottles of Château Le Pin 1990 (Pomerol, Bordeaux), 36,300 dollars for three magnum (3 liters) of Chateau Lafite 1982 and 30,250 dollars for twelve bottles of 1990 Chateau Petrus.

"98% of lots were sold, an outstanding sales, Sotheby's said in a statement.

For the first time the art market - which also sells real estate and luxury of fine wine - had helped to bid on the internet, and 17% of lots were sold this way. "We have had enthusiastic responses from buyers worldwide," says Sotheby's.

"Customers in Asia have been strong and have gained 9 of the ten most prestigious prizes," said the merchant.
