Roger Hargreaves and the Mr. Men Characters Are Honoured With a Google Doodle

The first Mr. Men book hit the shelves in 1971, and the whole idea was said to have been started when Roger Hargreaves' son asked his dad what a tickle looked like.

In the first year alone the books sold more than 1 million copies, and now, 40 years later, they have sold more than 100 million copies in countries around the world. The first book featured Mr. Bump, Greedy, Happy, Sneezy, Tickle and Nosey. Now there are many more characters of course.

Apparently there is going to be a Mr. Men: The Movie, as Fox is planning an adaptation of the beloved books.

Roger Hargreaves passed away from a stroke in 1988, at only age 53, and his son took over his legacy.

Do you have a favorite Mr. Men book?
