Twitter is playing very important role in covering the Mumbai terrorist attack and hundreds of people are using the site to convey the News on the Mumbai attacks. They are constantly updating others with first-hand accounts of the carnage. But Now Indian Police have advised people to stop updating the situation as they reckon tweeters giving away strategic info to terrorists via Twitter”. They had already blacked out cable news channel in Mumbai.

Some twitter messages gave the names of suspected terrorists. None of the information could be confirmed at this stage.

The website has a stream of comments on the attacks which is being updated by the second, often by eye-witnesses and people in the city. Although the chatter cannot be verified immediately and often reflects the chaos on the streets, it is becoming the fastest source of information for those seeking unfiltered news from the scene.

In the past hour, people using Twitter reported that bombings and attacks were continuing, but none of these could be confirmed. Others gave details on different locations in which hostages were being held.

The same could be said about CNN who was reporting Live while troops were staging.  I am sure that the Twitter information was no where near as informative as Terrorists watching CNN in the Hotel.

At the same time, folks on Twitter are average folks who twit info without proper confirmation of information.
