Naked Scanners on Trial at Manchester Airport: Rapiscan Screeners
Do you get weary of having to remove your jacket and shoes while going through security at the airport? Or getting the pat down?
How about the new alternative, showing all your naked glory to airport security staffers in the new Rapiscan people screeners?
A full body scanner has been introduced that produces "naked" pictures of passengers, and is now being used on a trial basis at Manchester Airport.
There is no hiding place for breast enlargements, piercings, hip replacements and, more importantly, knives or guns.
This full body image will take away the hassle of undressing and will be seen by an anonymous security person in another room.
But it also means intimate parts of the human body will be revealed to airport staff.
This is already on the way in North America. The manufacturer, Rapiscan Systems has posted an announcement on their website that an order for $25M has been placed by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration.
We appreciate the confidence that TSA has demonstrated not only in the Secure 1000 Single Pose but also in Rapiscans program management, manufacturing, service and logistics capabilities by placing this significant first order.
Will this be adapted throughout the world? Only time and technology will tell.
