Netflix Prize Winner, Sequel To Be Announced In September

The online DVD rental company Netflix has not yet announced the winner of the first Netflix Prize-contest, but has already promised there will be a sequel. The first contenst was designed to help the company improve the prediction feature of its movie recommendation system. Two teams are competing for the prize - BellKor's Pragmatic Chaos and The Ensemble. Both teams have managed to improve Netflix's prediction system by around 10 percent.

Netflix' chief product officer Neil Hunt said the company will reveal the winner in September, around the same time the new contest will be announced.
