News river is a good idea

Got this via Paul Bradshaw's "The Flow of News" piece in poynteronline. The longer explanation by Wilbert Baan is here.

The news river is a horizontal graph currently, but it comes out of the idea that news is a river of information, which is correct today. You can scroll through the river from past to present. I think that this is an instance of what McLuhan talked about, that new media initially simply swallow the old media, so online news was just pages made electronic and linked, and now some designers are starting to think in new ways about online, which won't always be the new media.

biverson, thanks for this post. Great find.

And, without being too obtuse, just wait to see what we've got planned for NowPublic!
