Gingrich's Money Bags Facing Criminal Probes

Sheldon Adelson, the Las Vegas casino magnate and bankroller of both Bibi Netanyahu and Newt Gingrich, has been under Federal criminal investigation for the past year, according to a report aired by ABC News on Jan. 27.

According to the report, which was picked up several days later in the Israeli daily Ha'aretz, the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission are investigating evidence that Adelson handed out bribes and worked with Chinese Triad organized crime groups, to build his new Sands Casino on the Macao, the former Dutch colony that is now, like the former British colony of Hong Kong, part of China.

The ABC News expose, delivered by well-known FBI asset Brian Ross, came out just days before Gingrich's double-digit loss to Mitt Romney in Tuesday's Florida Republican primary election.

It was not exactly a surprise. Senior U.S. intelligence sources reported last week that the Republican Party establishment, especially the Bush family, was furious at Adelson for pouring between $10-20 million in Gingrich-linked Super PACs, which enabled the former Speaker of the House to win the South Carolina primary and halt Romney's momentum towards early consolidation of the GOP presidential nomination.

Bush Sr., according to the source, personally blames Gingrich for his 1992 reelection defeat by Bill Clinton, and the idea that Netanyahu's biggest booster was bankrolling a major intervention into the GOP nominating process really pissed off the ``Eastern Establishment Republicans.''

The knives came out against Adelson, with Bush family ally John Sununu personally threatening Adelson that he'd be cut off from American investment capital for his expanding global casino empire if he continued to interfere by bankrolling Newt.

The public revelation of the DOJ-SEC probe was part of the same intimidation effort, to shut off the funds that Gingrich desperately needs to stay in the race and stymie Romney, who is now getting the backing of the GOP Establishment.

You mean not violate laws that the business class help pass?  Is it yet legal to kill granny as long as you bury the body before it smells?
