Redefine the wireless experience with LTE

The ng Connect Program has announced their latest project: the LTE Connected Car. The 4G-wired Toyota Prius vehicle will be packed with innovative features such as road monitoring systems, real-time traffic and weather, and hands free communication that allows drivers to access their various social networks while on the road.

The idea is to take WiFi to the next level with easy access for drivers on the road and entertainment for passsengers. Streaming traffic alerts can be sent to the driver specific to their route, weather reports can be received specific to location, and GPS navigation will stream live with nearby coffee shops or gas station locations visible on the display.

It is the brainchild of Alcatel-Lucent, QNX Software Systems, Toyota, chumby, Kabillion and Atlantic records.  You may say what do these companies have in common?  One goal: enriching a user's experience.  Thus, the birth of the ng Connect Program

The LTE Connected Car will have multiple touch screens that can be individually controlled by various passengers. One main touch screen will be embedded in the front dashboard specific to the driver.

Entertainment functions of the new WiFi-enabled Prius will include live streaming video on demand, an endless music network that doesn't reply on XM satellite radio or the iPod, and various gaming options.
